Culture: Law and Order SVU to have 'Paula Deen' shoot 'Trayvon Martin'

From the network that plans to bring you the Hillary biopic . . .
One of those "ripped from the headlines" episodes, which means the fiction writers do what the "news reporters" can't get away with. That is to say, they write a script and hire actors to portray the storyline in the way they want you to think it really is. Wild-eyed, racist southern belle gives in to all her violent, bigoted impulses and shoots innocent, hoodie-wearing, Skittles-touting ghetto lad.
Well, allegories of the two anyway. A Paula Deen-like character will shoot a hoodie-clad black teenager on the hit crime drama.
From Entertainment Weekly:
Wednesday, pictures from the SVU set emerged on BuzzFeed and speculation mounted about whether or not the images might suggest that the show was taking on the controversial George Zimmerman trial so soon. In fact, the SVU writers have taken things one step further and combined two of the year’s biggest headlines: The trial of Zimmerman over the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin and the Paula Deen scandal.
“[Jeffrey] Tambor is a defense attorney representing a very high-profile celebrity woman chef who thought she was being pursued by a rapist and turned around it was a teenager. And she shot him,” said Leight in an interview with EW. “There’s a lot of stop and frisk elements to that as well.”
Well, besides being really cheap and exploitative, this is just weird. If you’re going to tackle the Trayvon shooting, why have Paula Deen replace George Zimmerman? Hollywood is quickly becoming Hollyweird.
More like: Hollywood is losing any sense of shame over its willingness to serve as propaganda ministers for the left, and completely slander people in the process. Paula Deen used some words she shouldn't have used? Paula Deen is guilty of racial insensitivity. Uh-uh . . . not good enough for the American left. Paula Deen: Secret Racist Murderer!
Why not? By fictionalizing her and giving your character a different name, then claiming at the end of the episode that "any similarity to people living or dead is purely coincidental" (even as you hype the episode as "ripped from the headlines"), NBC and the producers of SVU give themselves complete liberty to put the image and the notion in your head: Paula Deen really wants to shoot black people.
There should be a way for Paula Deen to sue these people for slander. I don't think there is, but there should be.

Update (Rob): SVU should have Fonzie water-skiing over Paula Deen as she shoots Trayvon, because that's the only way this could get more ridiculous.
