Politics: 'Osama bin Laden is dead. GM is alive.' Yes, this is really Obama's campaign slogan

By DAN CALABRESE - Four years in office, two things worth bragging about.
When I first saw this headline, I thought I had stumbled into some conservative site offering mocking advice to Obama. Here, champ. Brag about these two things, 'cause it's all you've got. Chortle.
But no. It's real.
You can picture Axelrod at the end of a long creative session throwing up his hands and proclaiming, "What the hell else can we say?"
And I sure don't have an answer for him. But I always had the impression that Obama's political team was nowhere near as bad as his governing team. Maybe I was wrong. Does it feel a lot better to be part of the 8.2 percent unemployment picture knowing that a bunch of people at GM were kept on the job thanks to all that free access to the federal Treasury? (Including $28 billion Obama now admits will never be repaid.) Then again, at least you know bin Laden can't order a plane to be flown in your house tomorrow, so there's that.
You know the national debt hit $16 trillion today, right? Your share is $51,074. If you work for GM, lucky for you there's a chance to start socking it away now. On the other hand, if you're one of the former GM bondholders who got screwed in Obama's political Chapter 363 bankruptcy, which was undertaken solely for the purpose of holding the UAW harmless . . . well. Your share is also $51,074.
"Osama bin Laden is dead. GM is alive."
This is really all they've got.
