Politics: Mitt Romney: America, this is what leadership looks like

By HERMAN CAIN - Romney's not promising to stop the rise of the oceans. He's just going to help you and your family.
Ladies and gentlemen, last night, we saw what leadership looks like. We saw what belief in America looks like. We saw what happens when a leader refuses to accept that a great nation needs to simply accept its own decline.
Mitt Romney is a serious man. I got to know him well during the presidential campaign. And I’m not surprised he was so effective at drawing a distinction between Barack Obama’s puffed up, self-impressed rhetoric and his own earnest determination to simply get the job done.
Everyone will remember when Gov. Romney said this: "President Obama promised to slow the rise of the oceans, and to heal the planet. My promise is to help you and your family."
Folks! That’s what it’s all about!
Everyone knows Obama’s ideas don’t work. We’re paying the price for that reality right now. But that’s not enough to make the case for Mitt Romney. We have the right to expect that our president knows his responsibility, and understands who he is elected to serve. Mitt Romney demonstrated that last night.
He also showed us he’s got the right priorities. Energy independence. Cutting business taxes. Trade policy that works. Repealing ObamaCare! These are the musts. These are the big things. Romney will get them right, and even when I was running against him for the nomination, I knew Romney would get these things right if he became the nominee.
But last night, he showed the nation who he is, and what he’s made of. The Obama campaign has been trying to portray Romney as some sort of heartless corporate robber baron. I don’t think anyone who saw his speech last night is going to believe that nonsense anymore.
Do I still wish I was the nominee? Of course! But I suspect a growing number of Americans, especially after last night, are filled with confidence that Mitt Romney can lead this nation successfully. I know I am.
